PWB Committees

We encourage you to get involved by participating on one (or MORE) of our nine committees. By getting involved on our committees you will have a better opportunity to build relationships, expand your network, gain exposure, and give back to our industry and the community. For more information email Peggy White.

MEMBERSHIP

The Membership Committee is responsible for retaining PWB Council membership, identifying and soliciting new prospects, encouraging membership renewals and assist the programming committee in organizing member events and activities. The membership committee will showcase the PWB Council at various generous membership events. The membership committee also acts as a new member liaison by welcoming and connecting new PWB Council members to others in the Council and in the industry. One of the goals of membership will be to work with NVBIA and HBAM members to start a local PWB Council specifically to their association to expand the regional networking opportunities for women in our industry.

AWARDS

The Awards Committee will plan an annual event to recognize Outstanding Women in the Building Community. The Awards committee handles the logistics of this signature event, including awards, submissions, sponsorships, and selection of award winners.

STUDENT AWARENESS

The Student Awareness Committee will work with local K through 12 and/or Colleges to plan an annual event to introduce young women to career opportunities in building. These are our future leaders and many are not aware of the opportunities in our industry.

LEGISLATIVE & POLITICAL ACTION

The Legislative & Political Action Committee (PAC) provides support to the BIA/HBA State and Government Affairs and Legislation Committee to monitor state and local legislative activity, develop policy positions and serve as an advocate for the industry before the State and county governments. The committee will provide education to the PWB Council Members, enhance participation in Legislative Days and encourage members to speak at state and local events, and ensure that the PWB Council is credited with contributions.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

The Community Service Committee creates programs that support the goals of the PWB Council the charitable groups supported by the Council such as Home Builders Care, Habitat for Humanity, and Home Aid. The Committee helps to raise funds and provide volunteer support to these charitable groups through the generosity of the building community, sponsors, and volunteers.

EDUCATION

The Education Committee will plan an annual educational event to promote growth and professional development for Women in Building and others in our industry. Education topics could include legislative issues, changes in regulations, technical training, and others.

FUNDRAISING

The Fundraising Committee will work with the committee chairs to identify and promote sponsorship and fundraising opportunities to support the awards and community service programs in the PWB Council.

PROGRAMMING

The Programming Committee will work with the committee chairs and the MNCBIA Staff (NVBIA and HBAM staff as applicable) to program the PWB Council events for the entire year. They will organize, promote, and execute a year-long roster of educational, social, and networking opportunities. These events will include Outstanding Women in the Building Signature Event, Community Service Event, Networking Events, Panel Discussions, Educational Event, and more.

COMMUNICATIONS

If you like to write articles, are savvy with social media, or like to photograph events, than this is the committee for you. Professional Women in Building will submit articles to Builder Magazine and to the national print and digital publications. This is a great way to get "published."
